Originally written by Modest Mussorgsky for solo piano as part of his “Pictures at an Exhibition”, “The Old Castle” is a work that transports the listener to another era. This jazz arrangement, with elements of funk and the use of modality, builds on that foundation by adding a new sound and a variety of piano techniques.
