Intermezzo (horn, tuba & piano)

“Intermezzo” by Airat Karimov is a striking concert piece for horn, tuba, and piano. Set in a lively tempo, it is built on asymmetrical meters: primarily 7/8, with alternating passages in 5/8 and 3/4. The rhythmic variety and syncopated jazz inflections give the work its drive and modern character.

Polyphonic writing distributes roles equally between horn and tuba, while the piano adds harmonic richness and pulsating support. The rare ensemble combination makes this piece both unique and valuable for chamber performance.
